Its because electricity spreads like ripples or rings over the surface of the ground away from the point of contact (like a downed wire). If youre near a point of contact, get away by hopping with your feet together or shuffling your feet heel-to-toe so theyre always touching. Make sure to get at least 33 feet away, or the length of a bus from the point of contact. #SafetySaturday
