Today we honor Alfonso Cuarn for #hispanicheritagemonth. Alfonso Cuarn is a Mexican film director, screenwriter, producer and editor and is known for A Little Princess (1995), Y Ty Mam Tambin (2001), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), and most recently, Gravity (2013). He began working in Mexico as a technician and then as a director. His television work first led to him working as an assistant director for several Latin American films including Gaby: A True Story and Romero. And in 1991, he landed his first big-screen hit as a director for Solo con tu pareja. In 2014 Cuarn accepted the Golden Globe Award and Oscar for Best Director for Gravity, becoming the first Latin American to win an Academy Award.
