Providing intervention and education related to risk management issues to promote safe work practices and quality of care services in an environment that is beneficial to the safety, health and well being of all patients, visitors and hospital staff.
Keeps abreast of best practices by participating in continuing education courses, professional organizations and seminars; reading current literature and maintaining professional contacts in the community.
Designs and directs a program to reduce injuries through safety-training, hazard identification, planned inspections, skill training, first-aid care, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, new employee indoctrination, physical protection, planned job observation, rules and practices, job safety analysis/standard work procedures, ergonomic design, and protective equipment.
The incumbent will be responsible to align Health, and Safety processes with business goals and to engage employees to promote behaviors that will achieve the highest levels of productivity in the safest possible manner. The incumbent will establish, implement and oversee all EHS programs.
