The successful candidate will have access to in-house computing and other resources at the LPI, and may negotiate access to the laboratory facilities of JSC-ARES, which includes materials analysis, high-TP experimental laboratory, and high-speed impact (gun) laboratory.
In this role, the selected candidate will perform and supervis those procedures which require a highly developed technical skill; coordinate and provides technical direction to the work activities of research staff engaged in projects.
Designs and develops enterprise-wide data analysis and reporting solutions against data warehouses and other reporting repositories to help business users make decisions by identifying trends and patterns in stored operational data.

Responsibilities of the data scientist include data processing, performing descriptive analyses and performing predictive modeling. These performed analyses will be used for data exploration as well as for independent analyses.
Research efforts may require analyzing complex heterogeneous spatial and temporal business data sets; modeling large scale linear, nonlinear, and stochastic mathematical optimization models; and developing efficient optimization algorithms.
