Collaborate with key stakeholders, including divisional BPA colleagues, both internal and external accounting authorities / auditors, and Division and Group Financial Reporting and Accounting, and ensure appropriate communication with these stakeholders when questions regarding accounting / reporting matters arise.
The Senior Accountant assists in the month-end close process and research variances in specific GL accounts, analyzes Field Support actual to budget variances and works with department heads to clarify, document and resolve issues.
The Senior Financial Accountant, reporting to the Corporate Controller, will be a key member of the Finance and Accounting team and is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations and verifying financial transactions.
The Senior Accountant's duties will include monthly close and consolidations, monthly and quarterly reporting, assisting with reviews and audits, preparation of policies and procedures and process improvement activities for Corporate Accounting.
In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for supervising and hiring additional staff as needed, overseeing the processing of all check, credit cards and automated draft requests as received, overseeing the donor management software to ensure data is current and accurate, monitor all gifts received, primarily publicly traded stock, and preparing monthly fund statements and other required statements.
Support timeliness of reporting as well as compliance with Novartis standards and policies (i.e. global processes, Novartis Accounting Manual, Novartis Financial Controls Manual, Management Authorization Levels, etc.)
Responsible for the medium to complex accounting activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and for developing financial statements and reports. May provide functional advice or training to less experienced accountants.
