The Clinical Nurse Specialist performs a wide range of nursing clinical, consultative, educational and research activities with established expertise; serve as a mentor and leader in the development of standards and in the training and monitoring of practice to achieve and maintain those standards.
Partners with appropriate resources to prepare the learning environment prior to training delivery and address issues, as needed, to ensure effective delivery. Provides clarity on the requisite logistical arrangements and physical arrangement of the instruction site, materials, equipment and furniture.
Evaluates the day to day documentation practices of the Medical Staff and healthcare team on medical surgical patient population (excludes complex cases such as transplants and open hearts), and offers education and recommendations in accordance with the Clinical Documentation Program.
