In this roll the Occupational Therapist olans, organizes, implements and documents specific treatment programs for patients of varied ages and disabilities with concentration and expertise in specialty area, according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy in collaboration with the healthcare team.
The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats residents in accordance with orders of the physician through the use of therapeutic procedures and assistive devices intended to maximize functional potentials in all areas of a residents life. The Occupational Therapist participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing support and information within the area of Occupational Therapy.
Monitors patient progress to ensure accomplishment of patient goals, initiates changes as necessary and appropriate to role. Provides performance skill assessments and customized treatment programs to patients in their home with the goal of improving patient's ability to maintain independence.
Assess/screen patient's daily living/work-related skills and develop therapeutic retraining programs with measurable objectives. Administer and interpret diagnostic and prognostic tests of function to patients in their homes or other settings to assist the physician in evaluating the patients level of function.
The Occupational Therapist organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs for the agency to facilitate rehabilitation. S/he directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.
Screens, examines and evaluates patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures, synthesis information and interprets examination findings in order to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, determine the predicted level of improvement and the time required to achieve it.
