The Sr. Systems Engineer ESP supports the Enterprise Server Platforms at CME Group. The incumbent must have strong knowledge of server Linux administration, configuration, networking, scripting and automation, large scale distributed computing, hardware/operating system/application interaction, and security. Strong communication and documentation skills are required as the candidate will typically be working with customers for support and new initiatives.
The successful candidate will be versatile, with an extensive unix systems engineering background with deep knowledge of linux internals, experience working with many open source technologies, and work well with a globally distributed team spanning multiple time zones.
In this role, you will gathers requirements from customers and analyzes the environment scope for business requirements.Troubleshoots most known and some new issues, determines the root cause, provides solutions, and takes initiative to see the solution through.
In this role, the selected candidate will provide oversight to L1/L2 Linux team performing day-to-day administration and engineering of the Linux environment, including: server builds, patching and software maintenance, system monitoring, administration, backups, disaster recovery.
Ensure standard work is being followed in the operation and maintenance of all systems under the role's span of control; plan and assist in the implementation of new systems and the decommissioning of end of life systems.
In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for the oversight, and ongoing management of the information security programs and technical systems required to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data within Groupons systems.
