The Registered Dietician provides nutritional care through assessments, Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and general Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) in the Diabetes Education Center and a variety of settings within PAH and the surrounding community.
In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of diabetes self-management training and medical nutrition therapy to pediatric patients and their families referred to the division of pediatric endocrinology for individual and/or group education on an outpatient basis.
The selected candidate will render professional nutritional care and counseling to assigned patients and families; initiate and complete calorie counts per departmental standards and perform nutrition consults.
In this role, the selected candidate will participate in continuing education activities, maintains membership in professional affiliations, and completes a minimum of six contact hours in diabetes and educational principles.
In this role, the selected candidate identifies malnourished patients as well as patients at risk for malnutrition and works collaboratively with interdisciplinary team to identify appropriate interventions, resources or solutions.
In this role, you will monitor and document patients outcomes and/or responses to treatment and modifies intervention to maximize nutrition therapy especially those on enteral and parenteral nutrition.
In this role, the selected candidate will maintain dietetic registration, state-required credentials and/or licensure and continuing education requirements; conduct patient nutrition assessment on a population of lower acuity patients.
The successful candidate must have professional work experience in clinical nutrition as a Registered Dietitian required; intermediate computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required as well as functional proficiency.
Searching a Registered Dietitian to join their dynamic team atFlushing Hospital, a 325 bed community hospital. This position will cover the higher acuity patients and will be seen as a mentor by our entry level dietitians. CDN and/or CNSC a plus.
