The CNS coordinates and guides clinical activities/projects of nurses within a practice area. The CNS is accountable for collaborating with members of the health care team to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies.
Responsible for extensive collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and medical records coding staff to improve quality and completeness of documentation of care provided and coded.
In this role, you will be responsible for collaborate in shared governance councils and unit-based practice committees to drive nursing satisfaction and outperform national benchmarks in high quality care.
Functions as clinical role model while delivering expert care to select groups of patients/families in area of specialization; serves as a consultant to the nursing staff, physicians and other health care providers in area of specialization.
As a knowledgeable practitioner, the Clinical Nurse Specialist demonstrates positive behavior and the ability to perform ongoing clinical assessment of the patient, establishes and implements a plan of care, and evaluates the outcome of that care, utilizing the nursing process.
