The role requires understanding the elements needed for a credit transaction and to ensure compliance with Risk approval and policies, internal legal guidelines, and all government regulations and guidelines. A basic understanding of credit and risks related to loans, particularly those secured by marketable collateral is essential.
In this role, the selected candidate will underwrite new applications and renewal submissions from existing and potential customers, accept or decline risks based on financial status, credit history, or other relevant risk factors.
The Underwriter will modify and approve initial stipulations from Underwriting Assistants. File appraisals, analyze data that was ordered by the Underwriting Assistants; Review loan files to insure they meet guidelines to approve loan files to proceed to closing.
In this role, the selected candidate will develop and maintain relationships with new clients and handle existing relationships with brokers and clients; underwrite new and renewal commercial underwriting submissions.
In this position, you will coordinate diligence activities with external clients to ensure loan requirements are met; notifies clients loan production personnel of incomplete files to obtain appropriate information necessary to complete loan packages.
In this role, the selected candidate will work in conjunction with the Manager of Underwriting and Actuarial Services to develop a series of rating models, Underwriter Guidelines and Rate Request/Prospect Information Forms.
