The Automation Engineer will deliver high level automation technology and engineering expertise for all operating areas at the plant site. Strategic involvement with initiating and driving optimization and improvements for automation/ control (PLC, DCS) processes and lead all design and related engineering aspects of projects.
The Software Engineer I is responsible for the design, implementation, quality assurance, test, maintenance and evolution of the software designed, even in the face of challenging, changing and evolving business cases, requirements, realization technologies and other forces (e.g., strategic changes approaching the project).
Work with project managers to ensure that projects for scope, schedule, and cost are on track, as well as interface with users, peers, management, and global counterparts to ensure stakeholder requirements are understood and integrated into the project scope.
Prior experience in the design, programming, start-up, or troubleshooting of industrial control systems, such as motion/servo controllers, variable frequency drives, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, SQL databases and reports, industrial communication networks, process instrumentation, and up to 480V electrical control equipment.
This position will demonstrate a solid understanding of Sallie Mae systems and business processes and requirements for new products/platforms/systems including system enhancements across multiple Sallie Mae Bank operational areas including some third party vendors.
