Review and provide assessment of test plans, certification reports, NECT Integrated Products Team (IPT) inputs, Configuration Control Board inputs, NASA/NRO collaboration (i.e. NASA ERB participation, information sharing).
Perform geotechnical engineering analyses, including geotechnical characterization and selection of soil engineering properties, applying geotechnical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using computer software including SEEP/W for seepage analyses, UTEXAS for stability analyses, conducting consolidation analyses of clays subject to ramp loading and deriving undrained shear strength profiles in accordance with SHANSEP design methodology, and applying understanding of experience with the hydraulic conductivity behavior of compacted clays.
The Mechanical Engineer will join an eclectic group of talented people in Product Design, Animation, Engineering, Film and TV Production, Toy Design, Financial Planning, Construction, Architecture, Law, Business, and Theater Design.
Work with Senior Engineers and the Business Class Leader to identify and develop specific technical expertise and will attend training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to their discipline.
Evaluates customer technical specifications and drawings to determine process or product applicability and reproducibility; and determines the appropriate methods for fabricating and bonding materials.
Analyze problems involving strength of materials, stress analysis, fluid flow, heat transfer, structural design, machine design and piping systems. Coordinate and expedite the procurement, construction installation and checkout of these systems.
In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for leading or being part of a multidiscipline team developing conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs of APU and gas turbine engine components; responsibility for design configurations; cost, weight and producability requirements.
Candidate will contribute to and present at engineering review boards that affect future missions along with attending and contributing to LVC design reviews, LSP readiness reviews, hardware inspections and major operations at various launch facilities.
