Southview Medical Center is seeking a full time Hospital Float Nurse. Will be expected to float to ICU, ED, and Med Surg areas. Must float to both Grandview and Southview Medical Center locations as needed.
The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care to patients in all settings in collaboration with other health care providers.
The RN is accountable for his/her own professional development and practice within the scope of care defined by law. Utilize organizational resources, the RN acts as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care, including delegation of care and participation in performance and practice improvement activities.
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Performs the priority (high risk, high frequency) technical procedures required by the unit.
Able to use clinical knowledge to review charts for accuracy, completeness, appropriateness of services, interruption of coverage criteria, documentation supports clinical plan of care, patient diagnosis and condition meets coverage and issues related to diagnosis coding.
Conducts a nursing assessment by taking a patient history and physical assessment and by obtaining vital signs and other medical tests. Evaluates health education/promotion needs of patients and provides necessary training and instruction.
The RN-Utilization Review nurse will use established criteria and policy/procedures to perform pre-admission, admission, and continued stay reviews on inpatient and observation cases in a timely manner.
