The Nurse Practitioner within the acute care hospital setting works in collaboration with and is an integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team. The NP functions primarily as a hospitalist in an inpatient setting, managing the care of acute /complex chronically ill patients in the specialties of heart transplant and ventricular assist devices.
Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
