Participate in all phases of the project including design, fabrication, off-line integration and testing, installation, production start-up support, training of plant personnel, and technology transfer. Independently follow construction of equipment in vendors facilities.
Drive for root-cause fundamental understanding of limitations in manufacturing processes. Use scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively, using well-designed and executed process experiments.
Interface with external system integrators and machine builders to successfully deliver fully integrated process equipment systems to Cornings plants on-time, on-budget, and that satisfy performance measures.
The successful candidate for Process Improvement / Safety Engineer is a proactive, self-starter who is able to act independently and effectively in carrying out responsibilities to achieve key metrics.
This position will work closely with the site staff management, plant Leadership and all associates to ensure that best practices and continuous improvement are part of the culture, and will concentrate on accelerating the plant Lean transformation.
Plan, direct, and continually improve Lean Manufacturing initiatives at the site. Drive the implementation of Lean fundamental competencies (Value Stream Maps, Visual Performance Metrics, WPO, Kaizen, Work Standardization, Gemba Engagement) & transformational competencies (workplace design, inventory controls, capacity flexibility, flow smoothing, value add analysis, insignificant changeover) in order to continually improve performance in quality, cost, delivery, morale, & safety.
