The Plant Materials Manager manages all material functions for the flow of materials, from supplier through production to customer, ensuring maximum customer service, minimum inventory investment, minimum transportation costs and efficient plant operations.
The leader of the materials management team is responsible for: placing orders, managing delivery expectations, expediting as necessary, receiving, staging, storing, cycle counting, retrieving, moving and shipping materials.
Manage the supply base in terms of safety, quality, cost, delivery, technology, and environmental perspectives by supporting corporate citizenship initiatives and monitor, evaluate, and improve overall supplier performance through continuous improvement & lean principles.
Analyze production release requirements compared to inventory levels and issue releases to bill of material suppliers for just in time deliveries.Manage inventory levels to maintain an inventory turn rate of 24. Implement continuous improvement efforts to achieve a target of 34 turns.
Manages the inventory management and/or production control operations of all related material functions. The Materials Manager is responsible for coordinating any efforts as assigned by the department senior manager, director and/or general manager.
This position works closely with other key functional representatives from New Business Development, Commodity Management, Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Supply Quality Engineering, Transportation and Operations to ensure the supply base is effectively serving internal and external customer needs.
This position is responsible for inventory management, internal and external production planning and scheduling, management of production control, shipping and receiving personnel, and capacity planning.
