The PA will work closely with the Principal Investigators, Physician Assistant, and Research Coordinators to implement vaccine trials in adult human subjects according to good clinical practice guidelines.
Performs H & P''s on all operative and non-operative admissions, initiates general work-ups, communicates findings to attending physicians, instructs and counsels patients. Serves as First Assist on all procedures assigned, which may include General, Vascular, Neuro, Orthopedic, Thoracic, Urology, and Obstetrical/Gynecologic.
Assist in surgery under direct supervision of the attending surgeon; serves as First Assist in OR; performs the following functions in surgery: retract; suction; sponge; clamp, tie, & cauterize vessels; suture skin, ligate & tie vessels, muscles, and subcutaneous closure; assists in such additional functions as may be deemed appropriate by attending surgeon; adheres to aseptic techniques.
The Physician Assistant participates in the management of patients under the direction of a neurosurgeon, assisting in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the diagnosis, care, and progress of the patient.
Responsible for the coordination of the medical care of the patients receiving inpatient services at the Lakeside Medical Unit of the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Specialty Hospital Programs, a chronic hospital inpatient service.
In this role, you will ability necessary to evaluate and determine health status of patient and implement proper care plan. Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, teach and counsel patients; instruct health care personnel on procedures and treatment.
