The Nurse Practitioner for Northwestern Memorial Hospital is responsible for working in collaboration with the patient, primary care physician, medical director, and other palliative care team members in an active practice to deliver palliative care and related health care services to patients and families.
Manages the health care of select patient populations through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician. Prescriptive responsibilities are reviewed by collaborative physician.
The psychiatric nurse practitioner reports to the Executive Director for Counseling & Consultation Services and is responsible for providing outpatient psychiatric evaluation and treatment for NIU students including medication management, referral, and patient education.
Examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.

Performing history and physical exams, medical record documentation, conducting approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and scheduling laboratory & diagnostic studies and professional consultations, prescribing medications, providing direct patient care in collaboration with the designated supervising physician and ensuring appropriate outpatient follow up for newborns.
