The successful candidate will develop, implement and execute a global intellectual property strategy for Amgen's process development organization which includes manufacturing relating to large molecules in Amgen's biologics pipeline and in-line products.
Serve as key business partner to the Global Procurement organization, working collaboratively with sourcing managers, clients, and key stakeholders to develop legal strategies and contracting processes to meet the business needs and goals of the Procurement team.
Advise the group in the context of ancillary agreements for established clients such as control agreements in connection with derivatives and options trading and the development of new client types and new product offerings.

Areas of focus preferably relate to biologics manufacturing expertise including cell science, purification, analytics, fill finish, and automation processes related to our business.
This Legal Counsel, IP will provide a full range of patent support functions, including patent preparation and prosecution, patent portfolio development, freedom-to-operate analysis, rendering opinions, managing outside counsel, drafting and negotiating license, development and research collaboration agreements, due diligence support for business development and client counseling.
Managing trademark clearance, including supervision of paralegal staff reviewing and analyzing preliminary and full trademark search reports, and providing opinions, guidance and advice to business teams regarding the availability of trademarks for use and/or registration.
The ideal candidate will have deep contracting expertise, substantial experience supporting global clinical trials, outstanding legal and business acumen, excellent leadership and customer service skills, and a positive can-do attitude. He or she will manage risks through counseling and the implementation and practical application of Company policies, processes and procedures.
Advise on employment documentation including offer letters, contracts of employment, employment policies and guidelines, employee handbooks, confidentiality agreements, data consent agreements and restrictive covenants.
