The role of the Clinical Documentation Coding Specialist is essential to HIS for developing better insight into our clients business problems; formulating a structured approach to optimize patient health records, clinical documentation, coder productivity and finally; opportunities to optimize the use of abstracted patient data. In this client facing role, the successful candidate will provide expert knowledge of the rapidly changing healthcare marketplace and the healthcare information systems industry, communicating findings and conclusions in an easy to understand way.
Utilizes clinical skills to identify documentation opportunities that reflect severity of illness, acuity and resource consumption. Verbally communicates with appropriate physician(s) to ensure documentation opportunities are clarified.
Work with sales managers to conduct and coordinate product training and product utilization reviews in hospitals and alternate care sites; develop and manage hospitals and alternate care facilities throughout the conversion and product adoption continuum.
You will develop a superior product and disease state knowledge and effectively educate and engage healthcare professionals in dialogue about clinical evidence, approved indications, product efficacy and safety profiles to support on-label prescribing for appropriate patients.
Manages the relationship with external vendors on requirements to comply with delegated standards. Conducts quarterly and annual audits of documents, materials and file samples to guage the level of compliance. Writes analysis. Takes action to resolve any areas of non-compliance including developing and monitoring corrective action plans as necessary.
