Communicate and work with Corporate, other Corning locations, and outside agencies to establish similar goals/objectives, promote best practice proliferation, and ensure inter-plant consistency of systems and procedures.
This position will work closely with the site staff management, plant Leadership and all associates to ensure that best practices and continuous improvement are part of the culture, and will concentrate on accelerating the plant Lean transformation.
The Manufacturing/Process Engineer Supports, monitors, regulates and controls the battery manufacturing process for safety, quality, productivity and performance. Ownership, understanding and committed improvement of plant and department metrics is expected. It is also expected that the Engineer will perform varied and somewhat complex work where independent judgment and action is exercised.
Process improvement and production support to Manufacturing Facilities through the company; responsible for improving manufacturing reliability, building employee capability, and creating operational stability.
Responsible for the following: scale-up from bench, to pilot, then to full scale production, process optimization, design of experiments, material specification, mixing and blending of silicone-rubber products to produce customize raw materials for clients, and the support of the polymer production plant which uses a batch reaction process.
Lead efforts to improve performance and resolve quality issues by rigorously applying methodical problem solving techniques to contain the problem, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Be responsible for developing, documenting, and communicating manufacturing processes; continually monitor and revise processes to generate cost savings, and improve quality and efficiency. Ensure that quality functions are incorporated into the process to provide the means of consistently producing quality products.
Plan, direct, and continually improve Lean Manufacturing initiatives at the site. Drive the implementation of Lean fundamental competencies (Value Stream Maps, Visual Performance Metrics, WPO, Kaizen, Work Standardization, Gemba Engagement) & transformational competencies (workplace design, inventory controls, capacity flexibility, flow smoothing, value add analysis, insignificant changeover) in order to continually improve performance in quality, cost, delivery, morale, & safety.
