Perform qualitative and quantitative hazard analyses on aircraft systems, human vehicle interfaces, and flight/ground operations to identify and mitigate safety hazards. Interface with aircraft design teams, supplier, internal management and external customers.
Provide requirements support across multiple projects within an ADP program. A qualified candidate will be able to understand the scope of the program and work across IPTs to ensure all aspects of the project are covered with appropriate requirements.
The chosen candidate will perform R&M allocations, predictions, failure modes effects and criticality analysis (FMECA), failure reporting and corrective action system (FRACAS), reliability grown modeling and monitoring, reliability-centered maintenance and maintenance task analysis.
The successful applicant will become part of a small, diverse team of system developers tasked with creating next generational Avionics, Communications, and embedded system capabilities and providing technical support to existing, fielded systems.
Position requires operational knowledge of MatLab, experience with running EO performance analysis simulations and developing target models and running parametric studies to support advanced EO targeting sensor and seeker development.
Support the JPL Systems Safety Program Office in providing customer-oriented safety engineering consulting to JPL Project Offices to assist, advise, develop, and implement efficient and effective safety programs; generate safety plans effective for the life-cycle of the project. Evaluate and assess hazards associated with systems design (hardware and software) and operations, and lead the project in implementation of appropriate mitigation techniques.
Candidate will gain experience in avionics subsystems such as navigation guidance, datalinks, communication links, stores management, weapon integration, mission computers, electronic warfare and EO/IR & RF sensors.
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
