Marc Cenedella is the Founder and Executive Chairman of TheLadders, the premier online job-matching service for career-driven professionals, which has transformed the way job candidates and recruiters connect online. He founded the company with Alex Douzet and Andrew Koch in 2003, formerly serving as CEO, and is based in the New York headquarters.

Under Marc’s leadership, TheLadders has grown to more than 6 million members, making his weekly “Career Advice” newsletter to members among the largest and longest-running newsletters of its type in the world. Garnering numerous accolades over the past decade, TheLadders has been recognized as one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York, the Most Valuable Start-up in New York by Silicon Alley Insider, and has won the Webby Award for Best Employment Website. A nationally renowned thought leader on job search, career management, recruiting, and business, Marc is frequently sought out by national media outlets and organizations for his expert commentary on employment and entrepreneurialism.

In 2010, Marc was profiled in “The Intelligent Entrepreneur: How Three Harvard Business School Graduates Learned the 10 Rules of Successful Entrepreneurship.” That same year he co-authored “You’re Better Than Your Job Search,” which quickly shot into Amazon.com’s Top 50 best-selling books. Before founding TheLadders, Marc was a Senior Vice President at HotJobs.com, where he served as the lead on its sale to Yahoo in 2002 for $436 million.

Hailing from Fredonia, New York, Marc holds an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was named a Baker Scholar, as well as a BA in Political Science from Yale College.

Shankar Mishra

Vice President of Data Science & Analytics

Shankar Mishra is the Vice President of Data Science & Analytics at TheLadders, the online job-matching service for career-driven professionals. He is responsible for leveraging available data and machine-learning algorithms to analyze performance and develop business strategies based on these findings. His goal is to use this information to help TheLadders continue successfully connecting job seekers with the right jobs, and recruiters with the right candidates. He joined the company in July 2013 and is based in the New York headquarters.

Shankar brings recent eCommerce experience from Intent Media, one of the fastest-growing media technology startups, where he was the Vice President of Data Science. There, he created business solutions to optimize media and transactional revenue for online retailers. Previously, he led online retailing as a Vice President at Wyndham Hotel Group, and spent five years at Travelocity, leading Business Intelligence and Analytics globally. Shankar began his career in 1995 at Sabre Airline Solutions, working his way up to Senior Manager of Revenue Planning.

An Indian native, Shankar holds a PhD in Operations Research from North Carolina State University, an MS in Mathematics with specialization in Statistics and Operations Research from Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai, and a BS in Mathematics from Patna Science College in India.

Deepa Miglani

Vice President of Growth & Marketing

Deepa Miglani is the Vice President of Growth & Marketing for TheLadders, the online job-matching service for career-driven professionals. She is responsible for developing marketing acquisition and retention strategies for both the employer and consumer segments of the company. Deepa’s goal is to drive business growth by increasing consumers’ awareness of TheLadders brand, optimizing their experience with the site, and engaging the community by creating relevant and meaningful interactions between site members and employers. She joined the company in November 2013 and is based in the company’s New York headquarters.

Deepa brings 15 years of experience to TheLadders’ marketing team, in both traditional and online marketing. Most recently, she led sales & marketing and launched products for Neat, a leader in Cloud-based digital filing systems. There she launched cloud and mobile products to drive company growth. Previously, she was the SVP at what is now USTechSupport.com, where she created a recurring revenue line for the company’s remote technical support device. Earlier in her career, Deepa led consumer marketing and relationship management for companies including eHarmony, Rosetta Stone, and Startec Global Communications.

Deepa holds an MS in communication and a BA in literature from Delhi University in India.

Robert Chefitz
Member, Board of Directors

Robert Chefitz sits on the Board of Directors for TheLadders, the online job-matching service for career-driven professionals, on which he has served since 2007.  He is General Partner and Founder of Egis Capital Partners, a private equity fund focused on the security industry.

Over the past 11 years, Robert has been a founding investor in the NJTC Venture Fund, the venture capital investment arm of the New Jersey Technology Council, specializing in early-stage investments.  Currently, he sits on several boards, including FreightWatch International, Westec Intelligent Surveillance, Alarm.com, and iLevel Solutions, where he serves as Chairman.  Previously, Robert worked at Apax Partners, a global private equity and venture capital firm, where he led some of its most successful investments, including Office Depot and Protection One.  During his 15-year tenure there, he was involved in raising, investing, and managing several funds totaling $2.5 billion dollars.  Robert started his career at private equity firm Golder Thoma & Co., where he was responsible for major investments, including PageNet and Cellular Network Partners.

Robert holds a BA from Northwestern University and an MBA from Columbia University.

Paul Smurl
Member, Board of Directors

Paul Smurl sits on the Board of Directors for TheLadders, on which he has served since July 2014.

Paul works with colleagues in The New York Times newsroom and across the business to lead the development of the company's master product, the expression of The New York Times news report on all digital platforms. Smurl joined the company in 2003 and served as vice president of advertising, followed by vice president of digital paid products, before moving to his current role.

Before joining The New York Times, Smurl was a management consultant and attorney, advising media and telecommunications companies on business strategy and legal matters. He earned a bachelor's degree fromIndiana University, a J.D. from Columbia Law School and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management atNorthwestern University.
