Marc Cenedella is the Chief Executive Officer of TheLadders, the comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, which has transformed the way job candidates and recruiters connect online. He founded the company with Alex Douzet and Andrew Koch in 2003 and is based in the New York headquarters.

Under Marc’s leadership, TheLadders has grown to more than 5 million members, making his weekly “Career Advice” newsletter to members among the largest and longest-running newsletters of its type in the world. Garnering numerous accolades over the past decade, TheLadders has been recognized as one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York, the Most Valuable Start-up in New York by Silicon Alley Insider, and has won the Webby Award for Best Employment Website. A nationally renowned thought leader on job search, career management, recruiting, and business, Marc is frequently sought out by national media outlets and organizations for his expert commentary on employment and entrepreneurialism.

In 2010, Marc was profiled in “The Intelligent Entrepreneur: How Three Harvard Business School Graduates Learned the 10 Rules of Successful Entrepreneurship.” That same year he co-authored “You’re Better Than Your Job Search,” which quickly shot into Amazon.com’s Top 50 best-selling books. Before founding TheLadders, Marc was a Senior Vice President at HotJobs.com, where he served as the lead on its sale to Yahoo in 2002 for $436 million.

Hailing from Fredonia, New York, Marc holds an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was named a Baker Scholar, as well as a BA in Political Science from Yale College.

Alexandre Douzet

Alexandre Douzet is the Chief Operating Officer of TheLadders, the comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, where he is responsible for the company strategy, global business operations, and product development.  He co-founded the company in 2003 and grew the member base to over five million since inception.  Alex is based in the New York headquarters.

As Executive Vice President from 2003 to 2008, Alex drove both job search and European expansion by launching the executive resume service and TheLadders.co.uk, respectively.  Over these five years, Alex grew TheLadders’ subscription base from zero to more than two million members.  Additionally, Alex has authored An Investigation of Pay per Click Search Engine Advertising: Modeling the PPC Paradigm to Lower Cost per Action.  Before TheLadders, Alex was Director of Online Marketing at HotJobs, as well as Manager of Marketing Planning and Analysis for BMG Direct.

Alex holds an MBA in general management from INSEAD, an MS in direct marketing from New York University, and a BS in business administration from the University of Lyon III in France.  During his NYU studies, he received the prestigious Lester Wunderman Award, which recognizes creative leadership, marketing innovation, and online excellence.

Ware Sykes is the Vice President of Sales and Services for TheLadders, the comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, where he is head of consumer and enterprise sales, and is responsible for the vision of services businesses.  He joined the company in 2006 and is based in the New York headquarters.

Recently, Ware pioneered Signature, an unprecedented, systematic program designed to guarantee job offers for professional job seekers.  Leveraging TheLadders’ platform of service providers, technology, recruiters, and jobs, Signature was developed over two years and launched in June 2011, achieving unparalleled success in the marketplace.  Previously, as Director of Resume Services, Ware optimized resume-writing operations to deliver more than $10 million in revenue, becoming the country’s preeminent executive resume-writing service.  Additionally, he is Chairman of TheLadders’ Advisory Board, which comprises distinguished executives and thought leaders in the human resources and career-services industries, including Orlando Ashford, Marsh & McLennan Companies; Melinda Wolfe, Bloomberg; Diana Lee, Sojitz Corporation; and Wendy Enelow, Resume Writing Academy.

Ware holds an MBA in finance and entrepreneurial studies from Columbia University and a BA in economics from Hamilton College.

Leslie Semegran

Vice President of Marketing and Engagement

Leslie Semegran is the Vice President of Marketing and Engagement for TheLadders, the comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, where she is responsible for the B2C business and marketing strategy.  Additionally, she spearheads efforts to increase the engagement of more than 5 million members and 15,000 recruiters.  She joined the company in 2004 and is based in the New York headquarters.

From 2009-2011, Leslie led initiatives aimed at growing TheLadders’ B2B business through marketing programs, e-commerce channels, and new service offerings as the Vice President, Enterprise Services.  Previously, she was Director of Online Marketing, where she spearheaded TheLadders’ customer acquisition, increasing the subscription base from 10,000 to 2.2 million.  A direct marketer certified by the Direct Marketing Association, her role also included B2C conversion, email marketing, and product utilization.  Prior to joining TheLadders, Leslie served as Marketing Manager for TheStreet.com, a leading provider of business, investing, and personal finance news, where she directed media buying and planning, search marketing, and marketing optimization.

Leslie holds a BBA from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Anita Samojednik

Vice President of Customer Operations

Anita Samojednik is the Vice President of Customer Operations for TheLadders, the comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, where she enhances the customer experience through best-in-class business process and technological innovation. She joined the company in 2008 and is based in the company’s New York headquarters.

Under Anita’s leadership, customer care has earned several industry awards, including the American Business Award for Customer Service Department of the Year (2011) and a finalist for the Stevie Award for Best in Class Customer Service (2008, 2009 and 2010).  In 2012, Anita was selected to Chair the judging committee of the Customer Service categories in The 2012 American Business Awards. Previously, Anita served in key operational roles with several global telecommunication companies, including Vonage, EasyLink and King Teleservices, where she launched state-of-the-art programs that dynamically improved operational efficiency of numerous call centers.  As Vice President of Outsourcing at Vonage, she designed and implemented global outsourcing strategies, as well as launched and managed daily operations for 11 call centers across India, Philippines, Argentina, Chile, and Canada.

Anita holds an MBA from Columbia University and London Business School, as well as a Bachelor of Science in psychology from New School University.

Angela Romano Kuo is Vice President of Human Resources for TheLadders, the comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, where she is responsible for spearheading the company’s people strategy, which includes growing and developing a world-class team.  She joined the company in 2005 and is based in the New York headquarters.

As Director of Talent Acquisition from 2005 to 2011, Angela was responsible for scaling the organization to support rapid business growth.  She drove breakthrough success by developing a highly innovative recruitment model – running the department like an internal search agency – while deploying leading-edge practices in targeted competitor research, passive candidate recruitment, advanced web and social networking techniques, technical skills testing, and cultural fit assessment.  Prior to TheLadders, Angela worked for six years at Meredith Brothers, the industry’s largest complete line highway supplier, where she served as both a Sales Representative and a Client Services Manager, delivering more than $2 million in revenue.

Angela holds an MBA and a BA in business administration, both from Ohio Dominican University.

Denise Cautela

Vice President of Enterprise Marketing

Denise Cautela is the Vice President of Enterprise Marketing for TheLadders, the comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, where she oversees the B2B marketing initiatives and helps drive growth of the enterprise business, overall.  She joined the company in 2010 and is based in the company’s New York headquarters.

Denise joined TheLadders from ClickFuel, a marketing analytic solutions provider for small- and medium-sized businesses.  As Vice President of Marketing, she helped develop and roll out the white-label program for Fuel Station, a proprietary marketing analytics dashboard, which tracks and monitors multiple marketing campaigns and advertising vehicles on one platform.  Previously, Denise spent six years at Monster Worldwide in multiple roles, including Senior Director of Marketing for Emerging Markets, where she helped expand its global footprint into 12 emerging markets across five websites, including Russia, Mexico, Turkey, Brazil, and Argentina.  She also headed up marketing for numerous other growth areas within Monster, including healthcare, diversity and inclusion.

Denise holds a BA in English and journalism from Framingham State University.

Nicholas Beim
Member, Board of Directors

Nick Beim sits on the Board of Directors for TheLadders, the comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, where he has served as a Director since 2004.  He is a General Partner at Matrix Partners, a global venture capital firm, where he focuses primarily on Internet and software companies.  In addition to TheLadders, his investments at Matrix include Care.com, Conductor, Gilt Groupe, Intent Media, and JBoss (acquired by Red Hat).  Prior to Matrix, Nick advised a variety of technology companies on strategic, operational, and financial issues at McKinsey & Company and Goldman Sachs.

Additionally, Nick serves on the board of Endeavor, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping entrepreneurs in developing countries.

Nick holds a Master of Philosophy from the University of Oxford, where he was a Marshall Scholar, as well as a BA from Stanford University.

Robert Chefitz

Robert Chefitz sits on the Board of Directors for TheLadders, the comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, on which he has served since 2007.  He is General Partner and Founder of Egis Capital Partners, a private equity fund focused on the security industry.

Over the past 11 years, Robert has been a founding investor in the NJTC Venture Fund, the venture capital investment arm of the New Jersey Technology Council, specializing in early-stage investments.  Currently, he sits on several boards, including FreightWatch International, Westec Intelligent Surveillance, Alarm.com, and iLevel Solutions, where he serves as Chairman.  Previously, Robert worked at Apax Partners, a global private equity and venture capital firm, where he led some of its most successful investments, including Office Depot and Protection One.  During his 15-year tenure there, he was involved in raising, investing, and managing several funds totaling $2.5 billion dollars.  Robert started his career at private equity firm Golder Thoma & Co., where he was responsible for major investments, including PageNet and Cellular Network Partners.

Robert holds a BA from Northwestern University and an MBA from Columbia University.

Steve Berkowitz

Steve Berkowitz sits on the Board of Directors for TheLadders, the comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, on which he has served since 2008.  Most recently, Steve served as Senior Vice President of the Online Services Group at Microsoft, where he oversaw Microsoft's entire online advertising business, as well as its content and advertising-supported channels.  His responsibilities included allmarketing, sales, and business development related to Microsoft's online services, including MSN.com and Windows Live.

Prior to his role at Microsoft, Steve was the CEO of Ask.com, where he built the management team that orchestrated the search engine’s turnaround, which is currently the Internet’s second-largest pure search site.  Previously, Steve was the President and COO of IDG Books, where he successfully expanded the "Dummies" series and diversified IDG's holdings, establishing the company as a global consumer book brand.

Steve holds a BA from the State University of New York at Albany.
