It All Depends On How You Look At It

Folks, an optical illusion for you on a Monday morning before getting to the job hunt.

Is the ballerina in this picture turning clockwise or counter-clockwise?

Now most readers see her turning counter-clockwise. Some see her turning clockwise. But either way, try looking just past the edge of your computer screen, viewing her in your peripheral vision, and concentrate on seeing her go the other way.

Pretty wild, right?

And I guess it just goes to show you that it’s all in the way you look at it.

And similarly, the job hunt is all about the way you look at it.

You know, folks, it’s no secret that searching for your next job can be seen as a big drag.

Sneaking out of the office for interviews, putting your resume together, and being interviewed by strangers are all activities that we don’t typically seek out during our daily lives because, truthfully, they’re uncomfortable, awkward, and stilted. It just feels unnatural.

So, yeah, the job hunt can be a big drag.

But you know what? The job hunt can also be a time for experimentation, challenge, and even personal growth.

How many times have you heard friends, or felt yourself, that leaving a seemingly cushy job "was actually the best thing that ever happened to me?"

And how often, after all, do you get a chance to start over? With a clean whiteboard? And get the opportunity to re-imagine the most important future, your future, completely anew?

I guess it all depends on how you look at it.

So, Readers, I urge you this week to turn away from the negative, and turn towards the positive aspects of the job hunt. Look past the edge of your screen, and imagine how the future, your future, might look if you just make the most of this moment.
