A Sense of Urgency

If you want to get hired before the end of the year, folks, this is the week to make it happen.

We’re exclusive partners with The Wall Street Journal, and our friend Perri Capell, a writer over there, scribbled an article on exactly this topic:

’Not only don’t things slow down in December, but there’s a sense of urgency to fill jobs in many cases,’ says Tim Jones, vice president of human resources for Ixia, a communications technology test systems maker based in Calabasas, Calif.

Even though you may have heard otherwise, don’t drop out of the market over the holidays. By staying active, you’ll have an advantage over candidates who think nothing happens in December and who take a break until January.

And our friend Debra Feldman wrote for us a few clever reminders on how to turn eggnog into an offer this holiday season:

With so many venues to choose from, be sure to attend the ones where you’re most likely to reach your networking goals: a high probability for face time with individuals who should know about your potential value proposition, unique talents, and interest in taking on new challenges. These encounters could be your big break to chat with current or former employees at your target companies, exchange business cards with an industry leader, or arrange a future meeting with someone difficult to reach.

You can see Debra’s full article here.

Folks, I want to see you in a new job in the new year. With over 70,000 jobs that pay over $100,000 on our site right now, there’s no reason to take a break for the holidays, and there’s every reason to get cracking.

Happy hunting this week!
