Our client, a top global Biotech/Pharmaceutical firm, is seeking a Director - Strategic Planning to join their Business Development team based in NYC.

Position Responsibilities:


  • Initiate and lead product lifecycle discussions and analysis in order to formulate and implement corporate strategy to optimize and expand the commercial life of each product
  • Lead the development and implementation of a detailed portfolio analysis, including scenarios surrounding marketed and pipeline products, while considering the potential impact of implementing various lifecycle, growth and investment strategies
  • Work with strategic planning colleagues to analyze and present corporate strategy initiatives to senior management
  • Work with various internal groups (i.e., Clinical Development, IP, Regulatory, etc.) to drive  the development of specific lifecycle plans for pipeline and marketed products         
  • Proactively research, evaluate and recommend potential growth strategies that build on the firm's current business through expansion into new geographies, markets, therapeutic areas and related businesses
  • Perform thorough analysis to develop the expertise necessary to identify and describe opportunities, evaluate viable entry and investment approaches, create business plans and present recommendations to senior management


 Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree – preferably in Biology, Chemistry or Pharmacy
  • MBA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years Strategic Planning/Business development experience in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical sector and/or on the investment banking experience with a heavy Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry focus
  • Thorough understanding of the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong understanding of commercial and scientific issues involved in making strategic decisions in the industry
  • Proven ability to analyze, break-down and interpret a wide variety of information and form a strategic opinion while addressing operational implications
  • Proven success in leading complex projects and bringing them to conclusion
  • Ability to persuasively champion strategic ideas, as supported by sound rationale and analysis, and drive change within the firm
  • Proven ability to perform complex “hands-on” financial modeling required
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation and project management skills required
  • Some limited travel required as business needs dictate
